Beautifully put. Unfortunately, I have noticed that the American Jewish community acknowledges the need for the state of Israel and also the dangerous situation in the states. But they refuse to acknowledge that they are living in the very situation Zionism was made for. They feel that feeling we all know too well when you are sitting in Ben Gurion airport waiting to catch your flight to wherever your house is. But there is a willing ignorance to it. They would rather not except their victimhood. Perhaps it is because by doing so they are admitting that they can not take part in the American dream as fully as our ancestors believed they could when they passed through Ellis Island all those years ago. We must realize that we are a part of the Jewish dream... a Jewish hope. The hope is the cause of our longing. It is the cause of that pit in our stomach when we must leave Israel. Might we see the day when the heart is reunited with the person in the east.
